What’s the Difference?
The Special Tomato Soft-Touch Booster Car Seat and the Special Tomato Soft-Touch Sitter might look similar at first glance, but they are NOT the same. The names give you the first hint - the Booster Car Seat is approved for use in automobiles and airplanes; the Sitter is for simple seating only. The chart below gives you an overview of the uses approved for these products. For safety’s sake and to avoid boarding a plane with the wrong piece of equipment (and probably being denied the ability to use it) this article is worth the less than 5 minutes it will take to read it.
The Booster Car Seat is CRASH TESTED
Simply stated, the Special Tomato Booster Car Seat has been crash-tested, the Sitter has not. The Booster Car Seat passed the FMVSS 213 (US Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 213). The Booster Car Seat is also FAA compliant which means it has been approved for use on airplanes.
The Booster Car Seat has LATCH STRAP and AIRPLANE STRAP
The Special Tomato Soft-Touch Booster Car Seat comes standard with a permanent LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children) Attachment Strap. It cannot be removed. Its purpose is to keep the Booster Car Seat secured to the vehicle seat at all times. This strap is one of the reasons the Booster Car Seat is compliant with US Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. The Booster Seat also comes with a separate Airplane Strap for securing the Booster Car Seat to the airplane seat. It can be removed when the Booster Car Seat is not being used for airplane travel. The Booster Car Seat has SAFETY LABELS
The Booster Car Seat is clearly labeled as a Child Restraint System that has been crash tested and approved for use in both motor vehicles and airplanes. It carries necessary information for law enforcement and flight attendants who may not be familiar with the Special Tomato Booster Car Seat and may question its use.
